Brussels, February 26, 2025 – In the framework of the training of the young beneficiaries of the Genius program of the Tarragona Provincial Council who are in Brussels, LIFE NextFUMIGREEN has been presented as a success story in agricultural innovation. Yesterday, February 25th, Aleix Castells, Communications Office Assistant of Finnova Foundation, presented the project in the “Welcome day of the Genius Program of the Tarragona Provincial Council and first face-to-face training session”, organized by Finnova at its headquarters in Brussels.
The event aimed to present to the young people of the #Genius program all the existing funding grants, in addition to serving as a meeting space with the host entities.
The Genius Program of the Tarragona Provincial Council, which has the support of the Finnova Foundation for management and monitoring, is an international mobility program through which ten young people from Tarragona benefit from a professional stay in Brussels to subsequently transfer the knowledge acquired to a municipal entity in the region.
In this context, the presentation of LIFE NextFUMIGREEN brought participants closer to an innovative solution for sustainable agriculture. This project, led by FumiHogar in collaboration with B&B Asesores, Comercial Química Massó, BrioAgro Tech and Finnova, seeks to develop natural fumigants from plant extracts to control pests and diseases in greenhouse horticultural crops, reducing the environmental impact of conventional pesticides.
With a total budget of 2,758,921.01 euros, 60% financed by the European Union’s LIFE program, LIFE NextFUMIGREEN will contribute to food security, biodiversity and the professionalization of the agricultural sector.
